A few months ago, I followed a thread about Mosquito's and in
particular, how many flights have been made with a Mosquito without losing
it. Someone claimed to have made 17 flights, and this was greeted with
disbelief by other contributors to the thread.
Well, I have been keeping close track of my son's Mosquito, and we now
have 12 flights on ours. Mostly with 1/2A motors, but maybe 4 of the
flights with A10's. We really can't see the rocket at apogee, except for
the puff of smoke. But all the kids at the launch site spread out, and we
find it on the ground eventually. This weekend, using an A10, the Mosquito
went totally out of sight, and then it went BOINK on the top of the head
of a surprised kid! Fortunately, it doesn't weigh much!!!
Anyway, except for some mild flame-erosion around the back of the root of
the fins, the rocket is still in great shape, and we are now shooting for
beating the "record" of 17 flights that was mentioned before. Has anyone
else flown one of these more times? Are there official records for this
type of thing? Has anyone else got any good Mosquito stories?
