deaths from filler or additive

Folks,
I'm trying to find out if anyone remembers reading an article about
two brothers dieing from exposure to some sort or filler or additive.

I used some *** stuff.
I'm not sure if it is an epoxy, poly vynal or some sort of other
glassing material additive.

I don't have the MDS or who I bough the stuf from. It was a white
powder in a cardborad can. (But it wasn't WEST SYSTEMS). It was about
a 2" diameter can
and I think it was about 6" tall. It could have been used for UV
protection or making the outer surface stronger.

Any Idea what this could be?
Thanks,

sounds like milled fiber to me...1/32 strands of fiberglass that is used in
fillets and strengthen joints..not good to breath...probably like asbestos
in a way..i will check around and try to get back to you if someone else
dont beat me to it.........

Could have been glass microbeads.  Commonly used to reduce the density of
epoxy without compromising strength.  If that's what it was, pretty
harmless.

Of the common structural additives, only Kevlar and carbon fiber are
significantly dangerous -- but even those will likely take 20 years to kill
you. Their pathology is similar to asbestos. Inhaling a little fiberglass
will make you feel bad, but will not likely cause permanent damage. If
someone actually died from a single exposure, it would likely have been
asphyxiation or ingestion. If two people actually died in the same
single-exposure event, then I think that we have a strong nomination for the
Darwin Awards.

It wasn't West System #406 & #410 filler.
I checked what I ordered from West System, Composite Structures Tech
& Pratt Hobbies. It's nothing I ordered from them.
What could I have ordered and from whom. I can't find any other
records.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't an epoxy additive, but a poly vynal or vynal
ester that could be added to epoxy.

I'm at a loss as to what I used.
