Loc Graduator Motors/Delays?

Post by J. Stuckma » Sun, 14 Jun 1998 04:00:00

I'm building a Graduator for my son Brian's graduation from kindergarten.
We'll fly it at NYPower in July. I've checked the Loc site but they don't go
into too much motor detail (D12-3 thru G80-10...Thanks for the in depth info!)
I was thinking about F40s & G33 for RMS but I'm not sure what delay is
appropriate. How about Econjets? You gotta love those noisy F's!

Thanks,
Jim Stuckman

Until you get to high thrust motors like the G80, I'd go with the short
delay for everything in a Graduator. I don't have the sim lists in front of
me, but a G80-10 even sounds a bit long. Perhaps a 7.

I've had some nice Graduator flights with the D13-4 reload. A 29mm to 18mm
adapter is strange, but it works OK for this rocket. Probably for some of
the smaller AT kits too.

Loc Graduator Motors/Delays?

Post by Mark Travi » Mon, 15 Jun 1998 04:00:00

Jim,  I've flown my Graduator on four different motors from E to G.
I'll be honest.... the E18-4 RMS was a little scary with ejection well
after apogee but recovery was fine.  This would be good for a small
field.  If you want to use the 24mm RMS, then my favorite motor is the
F24-4.  The delay is just about perfect with this motor.  Going to the
29mm RMS, I like to fly the G33-5 and G64-7.  These are both very
impressive flights in the Graduator...it's one of my favorite rockets.

Good luck.  --MARK
