BATF's Inspection Right

BATF's Inspection Right

Post by Christopher Co » Mon, 13 Oct 1997 04:00:00

I read a post in this newsgroup that basically stated that the BATF has the
right to enter my house at anytime if I have a LEUP, particularly if it is
a storage LEUP even if the storage is a detached shed. Well going through
the Orange Book, I am not finding it. Yes during business hours, and yes
after an accident, but nothing like I was led to believe.

I will GLADLY recant everything I mentioned in this newsgroup and apply for
my LEUP if the BATF does not have a Cart Blac right to enter my house.
Anyone have any information to impart here?

Not playing a lawyer on TV or anything, but even I know that Usenet is a
pretty poor substitute for legal advise....

You could call up the BATF and ask *them*.  Get your answer in writing if
you need to.

Stu (is *your* church ATF approved).

When you get your application, that's one of the questions. What is
your normal time of operations. I put down 5:pm to 9:pm Saturdays.
If they ever need to come over, they will call in advance. I received
my LEUP in June, and haven't heard a word from them yet. Only one other
member in one of my groups has had an inspection. And that was a
a records check (he also has a non-storage LEUP).
