Beginner needs advice on 2 stage flight

Hi

Thanks for the advice on interesting kits for beginners. Most of the
models suggested are out of stock locally and over the 'net (in the UK)
so I chose a 'Custom Lightnin'.

Anyone got experience flying this kit?

It's obviously a bit flimsy as supplied - so I've used epoxy for all
joints, put epoxy fillets on the fins, made a balsa shock cord mount and
spot-glued the 'chute lines.

I've also drilled a couple of holes in the booster stage tubing to
release gasses during stage 2 ignition.

I'll be using a D12-0 and D12-7 so I'm eager to avoid any mishaps.

Anyone got any advice before I push the button?

My advice is some nose cone weight.  Mine flew very unstable, especially
after the first stage burnt out.

Maybe an ounce or so would be good.  Put some clay in and see how it
goes.  Mine worked very well with the extra weight - those fins are VERY
tiny.  Maybe larger fins would help this kit.

Steve,

Seek help.  It isn't normal to talk to oneself in this manner.
