(ROL Newswire) -- Giant Leap Rocketry has released a KEVLAR(TM) chute pad
designed for maximum protection of chutes in large diameter rockets. The pad
is hexagonal, and is about 20" across. It offers an extra margin of heat
protection for parachutes in rockets that are 6" and larger in diameter. In
the past, chute bags were an option for flyers needing full heat protection.
"But bags can be tricky, and most flyers are unfamiliar with them", says Ed
Shihadeh of Giant Leap Rocketry. So for those flyers requiring increased
protection of their recovery system, and do not want the added complexity
and cost of chute bags, Giant Leap Rocketry offers the 20" KEVLAR(TM) pad.
Giant Leap Rocketry now uses KEVLAR(TM) in all its heat protectors because,
Ed maintains, it has a greater heat resistance than NOMEX(TM) - - and so
provides better heat protection. It also has greater strength than
NOMEX(TM), he adds, which makes them last longer and reduces the possibility
of blow-through of hot gases. The pads are available at the Giant Leap
website for $9.99. www.giantleaprocketry.com
