Mobley, quit being such an ass. Administration doesn't take kindly to
people that mailbomb, forge email and forge usenet messages.

If you're going to forge my posts, at least spell my damn name
correctly. This message still originated from your ISP's newsserver,
which is concentric.net

Copies are all also going to administration. You can try and pass off
your mailbombing and forging onto me but your headers and reverse
traces tell otherwise.

Even with 100-to-1 odds, the membership still isn't allowed the vote
their conscience, to determine for themselves how TRA should be
handled.
It's in their best interests if someone else deprives them of that.

If TRA is as truly non-existent as you say, why not just walk away and

forget about it?

You must have better eyes than I do, Dave, I don't see my name up there
at all.  Are you assuming that I use concentric.net and am the only user
on it?  If I wanted to fake messages and make them appear real, I would
do like you do and bounce them through another gateway.  I think someone
is pulling your leg, but you are right, they could get your name right.

The fact that he has an "internet saavy reply" only increases my
suspicions it is him.  The content of the forged messages would have been
enough for me though.

The fact of the matter is that I am an internet newbie.  What actually
happened (ducking thrown objects) was someone told me you could change
your attributes in your browser software and appear to be someone else. I
was told this was how I was email bombed.  In my overzealous experiment,
I changed my name to something else, in this case ddave and emailed my
own mailbox to see what it would look like.  The result was I forgot to
change it back and responded to two messages here.  I wrote Dave a letter
telling him it wouldn't happen again, experiment over.

Now, flame me for being honest, as if you need a reason.

I saw a post in which someone claiming to be Darrell said they were
playing with their mailer, used ddave as the name, forgot to change it
back and posted two articles to the group. He (whom ever was doing the
posting) also claimed to have sent a letter to dave explaining what
happened. Was that forged too and was I seeing things or did anyone
else read that post? Not blaming, not accusing, just asking cause I'm
curious.

I think we can all agree that Mr. Mobley has had a change of heart and so
far it has showed.

I think I should lead the pack in giving him the benefit of the doubt from
this point forward.

I also think that any further "forging" of posts should be dealth with
just as swiftly and agressively as this one.  Mr. Mobley posted that
apology at the request of his ISP in order to keep his account.  I
therefore present this as an example of the system working.

The source of the mailbombs is still "somewhat" up in the air, and this is
indeed a substantially more serious problem than three spoofed posts and
three tons of content free posts.

I saw that post, also -- it came from concentric.net, just as the
"forged" posts attributed to Dave Gawlick did.  I wasn't taken in, nor
were other regulars, I'd guess, since Dangerous Dave always posts from
ddave.com...

FWIW, the "forged" posts and the apology had the same compbination of a
Compuserve return address and concentric.net NNTP Posting Host header as
a recent post from Darrel replying to mail generated by his web pages and
his recent reevaluation of his behavior on the group...

Let me comment that the posts weren't intentional forgings, they were
simply a mistake.

Thank you.

I have to disagree, Jerry.  The apology was all mine, I still haven't had
any communique from my ISP in regard to this situation.  The system is
working because I am making it work.  And, I have a desire to continue
it working.
