Estes Laser Torpedo

Greetings

While helping a friend move out of his house, we were digging through the attic
and found an Estes Battlestar Galactica Laser Torpedo still wrapped in the box.
He does not have any time for rockets so he gave it to me.  Unfortunately I
have limited knowlege of earlier kits for being out of the hobby for nearly 20
years.  Could anyone give me the release/discontinuation dates for this rocket.
I was always a big fan of the series(at least until they got to Earth). Any
help would be appreciated.

The best I can do is say that I bought one and 2 Viper kits in 1980.
I still have a Viper in the box that I've been thinking of selling.

It was available only in 1979.  They can still be found in some hobby
shops though.

Thanks for the help on the dates for this kit.  I did some snooping around and
found the list of kits on the Sunsite page (ekdir.txt).

P.S.  Randy If you decide to sell that Viper let me know.

I've also got one of the Vipers in the box, and I'm currently working
on a 2" upscale.  I avoided the kit when it first came out as it isn't
a very accurate representation of the TV Viper (a design which I
really liked).  Years ago, a friend found the boxed kit at a
liquidation store and gave it to me.  Since then, it's grown on me
considerably.  Try to think of it as a futuristic that just LOOKS kind
of like a Viper, and you'll be happier.

I also understand that the Monogram plastic Viper kit is a good
subject for plastic conversion, and it was recently re-released and is
still in many hobby-shops.  If you want an accurate Viper, that's the
way to go, but the Estes one is cool too.

Also, as I occasionally do, I'll put out a request for any info on the
unreleased Estes Cylon Raider kit (advertised on the side of the Viper
box).  I'd love to know how far product development got, what
construction methods would have been used, and if a prototype was ever
shown.
