BRUISER EXP

I have a Bruiser EXP and this is the first kit that I have to cut the
fin slots for. I know they sent a fin guide for the pattern but I was
wondering if anyone has any easier methods or advice on cutting the
slots. Ive built quite a few kits but this is pretty scary. What if
its wrong? There goes a lot of money. HELP

I've not built a bruiser, but I have built too many Magnums :-(

What I find works well is to build the fin canister, setting the
fins up just right (they have to be straight!!) - then use that
as a guide - drop the fin canister into the back of the body tube
untill the front of the fins touch the end of the body tube,
then cut about and inch of fin slot, drop the fins down into
this inch, do another inch .... drop it down again, now use a
metal rule on either side of each fin to mark out where to cut
for ~90% of the width of the fins - chop that out then do the
last little bits carefully untill it just fits.

Another handy tip - get some CA now and wick it all around both
ends of the body tube(s) so that they will harden up and wont be
damaged by all the bouncing around during the construction process.

And one more - fill and sand the body tube BEFORE cutting the
fin slots and fitting the fins, you'll damage the filler a little
when you add the fins but it will be easy to fix.

Finally - don't glue the bulkhead and coupler to the payload
section until after it's been fully painted ... handling  a
simple tube is so much easier!

Good advice. I use a T-bar sander to guide the knife when I cut fin slots.
It's made of aluminum and is (as name implies) "T" shaped and aligns
itself perfectly with the tube making for straight clean cuts. Most hobby
stores that sell R/C stuff sell them for about 5 bucks.
