"Rocket Boys" in "Air & Space/Smithsonian" Magazine?

Hi-

I recently read "Rocket Boys" by Homer Hickam. Nice book, as many of you have
already commented.

In the Acknowledgements, the author thanks the editors at "Air &
Space/Smithsonian" magazine for previous help in publishing an article on "The
Big Creek Missile Agency". This article lead to the book.

The book was lacking in photographs. Did anyone read the original magazine
article? Were any pictures included? Are they of sufficient to make purchase of
a back issue worthwhile (if I can find it?).

The Air & Space website contains online versions of some articles, but no
pictures and not the above article. It also lists some back issues for sale,
but again, not this article. Any pointers?

Thanks in advance,
-J

Yes, I have read it. There are a couple of pictures.  The article was
written by Homer, and is two pages long.

The rockets in one picture are fakes.  Homer says that he whipped them
together in a few minutes, as the photographer did not feel that the
real rockets (steel) were impressive enough. (Private communication
from Homer)
