Anyone have RockSim file for TLP Harpoon and LOC Forte?

Anyone have RockSim file for TLP Harpoon and LOC Forte?

Post by Joe Cacciato » Tue, 03 Oct 2000 04:00:00

I have 2 projects I am working on and it would save me some time if I
could get the RockSim files for the TLP Harpoon and LOC Forte:

1. TLP Harpoon - Launched it 2 times so far and both flights have had
a little bit wild lift-off. Either the launch lug needs to be moved or
maybe nosecone weight added.

2. LOC Forte - My camera rocket project. The basic Forte without
nosecone weights in at 15 oz w/o motor. The camera payload section
looks like it will weigh in at 24 ozs making a total weight of about
40 ozs. Would like to run the design through RockSim for stablility
and see how good an F40 and G64 will launch it.

Hi Joe,

I believe there is a Harpoon in the Rocksim Library at Apogee's web
site. Not sure of the scale however, or if it's supposed to be the TLP
version.

I've built and flown the Harpoon kit, no problems other than that
thread used to secure the nosecone to the shock-cord breaking (as I
feared it would- an easy fix tho). Built it stock, using two lugs,
each placed between a pair of fins. Flies great on D12's and E15's.

Thanks Kevin for the input. The Apogee site has some Harpoon designs,
the 2 stage version. I may be able to modify one of them. I built the
Harpoon stock but as you know TLP doesn't tell you where to place the
one long lug they supply. I have just one centered between the big
fins. My next step is to add a smaller lug at the aft end of the body
tube and see how that works.

Joe,
I split the lug supplied an placed one between each of the fin sets. Mine
always flies great, usually on an E11-3J.
