What I find interesting about this news release is that in UK the name
Apollo 11 makes a superior comnpany name in model rocketry.

I don't quite follow. Why wouldn't it be a good name?

I wondered that.  After all, even Apollo 13 came back...

I am sure this is very rarely said on RMR - Jerry, please elaborate!

There seems to be a strong affiliation with the Apollo 11 mission and a
strong human success that the entire world connects with, since it was
stated on the plaque/event it was explored on behalf of the entire world.

Naming a company that seems to take advantage of the warm fuzzies
associated with the event.

I THINK I said it *would* be a good name?

My reading of your post was that Apo11o was a good name in the UK, but not
necessarily anywhere else.  Slight crossed wires is all...

...and the most ironic thing? Apollo 11 is run by an American.

Now that UKRA 2002 is behind us...I thought I'd take
a moment to provide a bit of enlightenment as to how
Apollo 11 Model Rocketry came to be named as such...

On 8 Sep 2001...I made a decision to go into the LPR
component business here in the UK...and I immediately
began getting things organized...including coming up
with a company name...I sifted through dozens of
rocketry related terms...trying to come up with that
"perfect" name...

Then it happened...11 September 2001...stunned beyond
belief...everything came to a grinding halt for four days...as
I couldn't even concentrate on mundane daily routines...much
less putting a new business together...

Once I resumed activities for the business...Apollo 11 found
its way to the top of the list for company names...given its birth
from the deep patriotism that I felt in the aftermath of 9/11...
and it didn't take long for me to realize that it was a truly
"superior" company name...representing the embodiment of
triumph against the odds...which is exactly what a successful
small business is all about!!!

"Taking advantage" or "cashing in" on the Moon's first
human footprints...never!!!

Allowing my patriotism to intervene in the naming of my
company...absolutely!!!

Thanks for listening...
