Knowing the sentiments here regarding liberty and security, I am compelled to call your attention to A&E, show is called "The Point". Tonight's episode is about civil rights and homeland security in the post-911 era.  On now (9pm CT)

Is this ridiculous claim that composite engines are dangerous
potential weapons of mass destruction of no concern to the hobby? I
don't know what a quote can do. people may get inspired ect.. However
everybody seems like they want to just accept it when it happens.
There are other ways around it. People CAN get a LEUP if they have the
proper storage requirements. If I love the hobby I would buy land for
cheap in the country and store there or share somebody elses. Theres
ways to work around this its not the end of the world. Its you that
decides if the manufacturers stop making high powered rocket engines.
If you decide that you can't do anything about this ridiculous bill
and don't try to work around it they will go out of business. There
thats the end of it. They won. Theres lots of people that love model
rockets that aren't helping bc they don't know anything about it.
Everybody is not a member of NAR! not everybody launches in groups.
Let them know, let them help. Im not a member however I am still
pissed that the governments is taking my freedom away.

The point is that people shouldn't HAVE to do anything about it.  This bill
will not make it any harder for a terrorist to design, build and launch a
surface to surface laser guided FAE munitions than before.  All it does is
add headache to legitimate operators of amateur rockets.

Wrong.

you missed the most important thing it does. It makes it look like some
politician or official is "doing" something useful.

that's why most laws are made. to make it SEEM like they have a purpose.

there are a lot of things people shouldn't have to do.
