Estes Catalog 99.99% fixed!!

Post by Fred Shecte » Fri, 22 Feb 2002 05:23:21

http://www.estesrockets.com/images/2002_Estes.pdf

Curves are now correct.

Lift-off weights for E9 motors are corrected.

Only thing still needing tweaking: The E9 curve goes off the chart on the
right hand side. That may be because it seems to burn forever. ;-)

Anyway, I let the nice folks at Estes know about it already (and thanked
them for fixing the data!).

Cool.

As long as it takes that long to download I call it 99.99% _broken_!

Jeepers! It's better to go to vendor website.

I downloaded once and saved it.

Do the vendor websites have the curves and the recommended max lift-off
weights?

I know the NAR S&T site has the curves....

I think your looking past who this is geared towards.  You and I might be
interested in thrust curves and max lift off weights.  Then again, as you
say, we know other sources.  Why would a Newbie need these?  They need to
follow the recommended motor selection.  When they first start scratch
building, if they only go to Estes web site site...they _still_ won't know
what to do.  For that, they would need other educational resources.

What is a problem, strictly from a marketing POV, is that it takes so damn
long to download.

Estes Catalog 99.99% fixed!!

OK, so let me see if I understand what you're saying by rephrasing it a bit:

It would be nice if Estes would provide a Quick & Easy to Download a 3 sheet
(pages 32, 33, 34) version of the motor data/thrust curves, etc. in addition
to the catalog (which is fixed but difficult to download for those who have
slow dial-up service - (it only took 10 minutes at home for me, but many
people will not wait for 10 minutes).

Estes Catalog 99.99% fixed!!

The Werkman-Square issue is still there.  Without that being fixed (unless
someone has Werkman-Square they don't mind handing out) it's closer to 99% from
a technical, and 50% from a marketing.  Whenever you get an error just opening
it...

Check out alt.binaries.models.rockets for a fixed catalog.  It has the latest
curves, and also thumbnails.  Enjoy!
