LOC Onyx and G40 delay time

Post by M Predd » Sat, 17 Apr 1999 04:00:00

Hi,

I'm getting ready for Blazanin this weekend and have an Onyx ready to go.
I'm confused about delays with the G40.  Recommended is 10 sec, but digitrak
and rasp indicate the rocket is doing -115 fps after a 10 sec delay whereas
at 7 sec its -48 fps.  Can anybody give me a recommendation based on their
own "Onyx" experience?

Thanks,
Mark

My rule of thumb, after this weekend is, when there's a question, go
with the shorter delay.  If the rocket deploys early you have gravity,
drag and the parachute slowing the rocket down.  If it's too long,
gravity is working against you.  I used to think otherwise.
