Smithsonian Modroc Class Launch

Smithsonian Modroc Class Launch

The Smithsonian e-mailed me some details about the model rocket launch
that is planned for August 17, 1996. The Smithsonian will be conducting
the launch at the Goddard Spaceflight Center in MD and not on the mall.
The participants will be bused to the site after the rockets are ready to
fly.

The local police force does not allow model rockets to be flown at
the mall. They will hit you with big fines if you use the mall as a
launch site. I guess the sight of a group of rockets being launched in
D.C. worrys them. ;-). Then again, we all just saw how alien beings would
handle a visit to the nation's capital. ;-)

In any event, the event promises to be fun.

Larry -

Definitely bring your own rockets for the Smithsonian thing.  The guy
running it is a HPR nut.  He'd definitely like to see a rocket go 5,000
feet.
