Upscaling the Broadsword

Upscaling the Broadsword

A friend of mine recently mentioned that it would be great to upscale
the Broadsword to high power. I too thought it would be fun, especially
since it's such a famous rocket. Has anyone actually done this? It seems
likely. I want to keep it at a 1:1 scale, but I don't know if this is
possible since I also want to use F or possibly G power and the CG would be
altered drastically. Any ideas?

I kit-bashed a Broadsword to make an upscaled Mosquito.  I did consider
29mm motor mount briefly, but I backed off to LOC 24mm tube for motor mount.
However, it will fly on the F39 reload.  :-)

I fiberglassed the body tube with 2 layers of 2 oz. cloth, and I am now
glassing the fins (scaled up balsa with scale thickness and nice, big
rounded edges.)  The launch lug is scale (1/2"), with a 1/4" lug hidden
inside.

Since the Broadsword has swept-back fins like the Mosquito, I'd really
recommend fiberglassing them along with the tube.

One final note -- you have to call it a Ultra Bertha or something
similar.  The Broadsword is just a re-packaged and renamed Super
Big Bertha, and everyone loves Berthas.  Just read all the other
posts on the subject.  :-)
