Who is going to revive the SMURFF launches now?

Post by Craig Utle » Sat, 10 Apr 1999 04:00:00

When the announcement was made about the cancellation of the SMURFF
launches, Ned and I exchanged messages about his plans to contact the city
of Muncie and discuss how much money the city was losing given the decision
by the utility company. I was very sorry to hear about Ned's passing, and I
am curious as to who is now working on the SMURFF issues with Muncie. If
anyone knows, please pass that information my way (and remember to de-spam
my e-mail).

Who is going to revive the SMURFF launches now?

Funny that I should re-subscribe to RBR when this question comes up. It is
SCAM's intention to try to negotiate to regain the AMA site or find a new
site. Most of the launch site details for SMURFF, of course  were handled by
Ned, but the logistics and infrastructure were a club effort. Our hope is
that we can be back up either late this summer or next spring. Also, any
furture SMURFF's will most definitly be dedicated in Ned's honor. There are
things going on in the background that we are working on that I can't
comment on right now, but there are signs of hope. We will try to do our
best to keep all informed of any progress.

Who is going to revive the SMURFF launches now?

Thanks for the news Bob.  I was really saddened to hear of Neds'
passing, and think dedicating the launches to him in the future is a
great idea.

Hope you get up and running soon,
