OT - Prayers please!!

Post by Hanna » Sat, 11 Nov 2000 00:25:23

Compared to some of the other tragedies we've been
hearing about here the past few weeks, this doesn't
seem like much. It has me scared, though, and I'd like
your prayers.

My mom (49) has been complaining of a chest cold for
about a week. She complains that it just hurts to
breathe, and she needs to cough but it won't come.

She called the doctor yesterday to make an appt., and
luckily they had a cancellation. By the time she got
to the dr.'s office, she had swollen glands, was dizzy,
and her right arm hurt. Without even looking at her, the
dr sent her right to the hospital, with a nurse following
her. They were keeping her on heart monitors all night,
and then were hoping to do stress tests and the
treadmill thing and everything today.

She has vertigo problems, which could explain the
dizziness. And if she does have a chest cold, that could
explain the swollen glands. But there is a bad history
of heart disease in her family, so of course that makes
us worry even more.

I've done a lot of praying, and I know that she's caught
this early (no matter what it is), but I'm still scared.

I'd really appreciate your prayers!!

Thanks so much!

Hannah
Luckily your mom was smart enough to know the signs that something is wrong.
Heart disease that runs in a family, is very scary. I know.
She is in good hands at the hospital! ( best place to be)
I will pray for her health!
Take care!
Shelley

Thank you so much Shelley, Arleen, and Cynthia!

I'll give an update when I get a report (probably
not till tonight, though.) My family tries to play
down all this stuff, finding other excuses for
things, and making them not seem really serious.
I know they do it so we won't worry, but I'd rather
them be honest and tell me exactly what's going on.

And...I forgot this earlier. To top it all off, I
had horrible car trouble on the way to work. Got
halfway here and it just kept getting worse, so I
finally turned around and went home. My car is only
two years old...we've had it for a year and a half.
I love it, but there's been this one problem the
whole time we've had it that no one seems to be able
to fix right. I think it's just a glitch, but it's
finally on its last leg. I have a half a tank of
gas, but the way it's running, it's like the engine
is not getting any gas!! So, I'm here in hubby's
HUGE truck! Sonmeone said they felt like a bus driver
in their new SUV...I feel like a semi driver! The
truck is so huge, and I'm so little!

Anyway...it's been one heckuva day...I'll keep you
all posted. Thanks so much for the prayers and
encouraging notes!

Thinking of you and your mother, Hannah!  Excellent that this was taken care
of in the early stages - you're right, whatever it is!  Thanks for sharing
this with us.

Keeping your Mom in my prayers.  As a member of a family full of heart
disease, I can sympathize with you. I know how scary this can be.  JC

Thanks so much to you all for your prayers and
encouraging notes. It really meant a lot to me
yesterday to keep reading and re-reading your
comments for encouragement!!

We've got good news so far...the dr. let mom come
home last night (just for about 12 hours.) They
had noticed nothing abnormal on her monitors, and
*** tests all came back saying everything seemed
fine, no heart attack.

They could not get the ultrasound or treadmill
machines yesterday (small hospital!!), so dad was
taking her back in this morning to do those, and
she has to do one test next week.

We are positive she did NOT have a heart attack.
Right now, the dr. is leaning towards the idea that
it is some funny virus that has settled into her
lungs and bronchials, but he wants to clearly rule
out anything to do with her heart. (Thank God!)
If these tests show something, he's sure it's just
minor blockage, and will schedule a catheterization
as soon as possible to take care of it.

It looks like our prayers touched God's heart...he's
always taking good care of us!!

And by the way, we think we've finally figured out
what is wrong with our car!! Although it drove fine
on the way to the shop this morning, we think it's
an electrical problem that is causing my radio, fuel
pump, and now engine to act possessed!!

So...my bad day yesterday was really nothing at all!!!

Thanks again...you ladies are the best!

Hannah, that's great news -- especially for your mom.  I had a car once that
was going through similar symptoms as yours.  The dealership did everything
including putting a new "computer" in it to fix it.  It turned out that the
spark plug wires were bad.  It cost me $30.  It cost them a heck of a lot
more in failed attempts!  What a waste of time.  I hope yours turns out
well!
