Please forgive me if I'm stepping over the line here with this off-topic
post, but I feel so strongly about it.  Also, please understand that I have
no wish to offend anyone here.

I am posting to ask your help in prayers!  Several years ago I met a young
woman by the name of Lupe Armendariz-Perez.  Years have passed, Lupe is
married, a mother, and a teacher at one of the public schools.  I ask you to
pray for her and her family.

The following is information about Lupe that I received from a  girlfriend
of mine, Carmen, that teaches 2nd grade at the same school where Lupe
teaches 1st grade. .......

Lupe Perez had developed high *** pressure in her pregnancy.  Two weeks
ago she was really feeling bad and looking really swollen.   Anyway, last
Saturday, one week ago yesterday, she woke up and felt horrible and had a
fever.  She finally went to the doctor and they quickly diagnosed her with
Toxemia.  They had her flown to Amarillo that day, and when she got to
Amarillo she had to have an Emergency C-section.  The baby girl weighed 2
lbs.  After the delivery she was not doing very well and then just went down
hill.  She was moved to ICU and put in Critical Condition.  On Tuesday
morning at 2:00 a.m. she suffered a heart attack.  She was put on a
ventilator.  The baby is doing well and has already started gaining weight
and a real little fighter.  Lupe however is not doing any better.  They were
able to take out the ventilator on Friday a.m.  We were all very hopeful and
had received news that she was upgraded to Serious.

The other first grade teacher, Honnie, went to take cards and money etc. to
them yesterday.  She called after she got home and was pretty upset.  Lupe's
mother (who speaks no English) just grabbed her arm and took her into see
Lupe.  Honnie said it was horrible.  Anyway, Lupe has never woken up.  She
has a feeding tube in her nose, IV in her neck and arm and she is coughing
horribly.  When Honnie talked to her, a single tear rolled down onto her
cheek.  The nurse told Honnie that she can hear, she just can't communicate
although they are not saying she is in a coma.  We do know that when she had
her Heart Attack she coded and was without Oxygen for 4 minutes.  So we
don't know the extent of the damage at all.  It is absolutley devastating.
Lupe is one of the sweetest teachers....totally dedicated and very giving.
Lupe also has an older son, Javier, who is six years old.

Please pray for them all!

Thanks,
Darci/"alysmama"

I spoke with a dear friend of mine the other day who is also a local doctor.
He said from what he heard that when Lupe was airlifted to Amarillo (2 hr
drive south of us) that her *** pressure was 270 over 150.  Did you even
know it could go that high??!!!  I was completely shocked!

Anyways, the best news of all is that Lupe spoke.  She's not considered
"awake" from her comatose state, but apparently when her mother said "Good
Morning, Lupe", she said "Hi".  Then when her mother said, "Lupe, wake up
your baby needs you", Lupe responded, "Yes".

The prognosis is still not very positive, but she's moving in a better
direction.  Thank you for your prayers.  Keep them coming.

OT -- Prayers Needed. Please disregard if offended.

Thank you for letting us know. I was petitioning  on her behalf early
today and last night and praying she would recover without damage. Just
dealing with the hard work and stress of a new born is enough of a
task, but fighting for your own recovery is overwhelming at that time. I
feel she will recover, and know she is receiving help from all the right
places. Bless you for being a good friend. Sabrina in Kentucky
