Proto 2K GP9 sideframe detail/lighting questions

Have just got 2 undecs and have some questions.

Sideframe Details:
On both, I found that the front right hanger (? terminology - I'm
referring to the rectangular thingy that is on the  truck  sideframe
centered over the leaf spring)) was broken.  Fortunately, had some
Athearn Blomberg sideframe spares which fit fine once I shaved the
mounting  pins a little.  Anyone else had this problem?

I also found that the brake cylinders do not lie parallel to the axis
of the loco.  Looks like the mounting holes are drilled on an area
that angles in slightly, so the cylinders angle into the body line.
Is this prototypical - my Athearn amd Kato GP35's cylinders all lie
parallel to the body axis

Lighting:
The lamps are quite dim and seem to be located quite aways away from
the numberboards/headlights.  LifeLikes claim that the model has
contant lighting and lighted numberboards seems a little lame to me.
Since I have not assembled the model yet, maybe there is more to come
- but I didn't notice any "light tubes" in the package of detail parts
that would get light closer in to that which they are supposed to
illuminate!

Is there a problem with the diode circuitry?  Since I have done
constant lighting circuits (which work!) I was expecting something a
little better.  So, is the lamp drawing too much amperage perhaps and
would be better to replace with lower amperage lamp/s eg Miniatronics
15mA?

I plan to check out the circuit board next and maybe answers will be
forthcoming but looks like the model need at least 4 minilamps just
for the headlights - not to mention illuminating numberboards.

The Proto 2000 Blomberg sideframes are pretty weak renditions, and
Athearn's being around 2 bucks a set (4 bucks if you have to buy one
of the new packaged/labeled sets!) you're best of just replacing them
anyway.  P2K got the shape of the base casting wrong, and the outer
brake hangers don't look right at all.
