for whoever wanted to know other methods of "planting" long  grass clumps I use
a tiny dab of hot glue on a piece of glass then stic in the grass before it
hardens.  The trick is to limit the size of the dab of glue.  Great for two
people tod assembly line style.  after glue hardens paint whatever glue shows a
color compatible with the grass or a little darker.  Then using a single edge
razor blade scrape the clumps off the glass and plant on the layout.  It may
take a while to get the dab of glue small enough.  Its a learning curve thing.

arrived, I got a chuckle, because I realized one could easily make one
