Bonding points to closure rails

Bonding points to closure rails

Post by Mike Mund » Wed, 27 Mar 2002 07:23:09

I am using Atlas custom line code 83 turnouts.
Many here have expressed the opinion that bonding turnout points to their
respective closure rails is important and I understand their viewpoint and
agree, in theory.
In practice, however, soldering a jumper from points to closure rail is
very difficult at best.
There is about 1/8" between the point rail and the adjacent stock rail.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks for making this bond?
Thanks in advance,

Drop a feeder from the rail under the layout and hook it to the proper line
going to the track.  Better than trying to jump from one rail to another.
