Elfi experiences?

Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with the Elfi electric
they would care to share?

Thanks,

Don

Elfi experiences?

Its a very nice plane. Better than the Wingo and slower than the Wingo.
Its a very light slow flier so as expected wind does effect it quite a
bit. Max of 5-7mph wind for any fun; 0 mph wind is best.  It can fly
quite slowly and handles well. Some rudder mixing with ailerons helps it
to turn very briskly. The weak point is the front wing small dowel. If
the wing touches down that tiny plastic dowel snaps. I could strengthen
it but I use it as a safety shear pin to help prevent damage to the
wing. Front nose wheel support wire bends easily and has to be
straightened often so it will track straight when ROG. Course if you
land like an angel all the time you won't have to worry about that.

Hope this helps

Elfi experiences?

Thanks for the comments Derek.

I've only seen the ad photos of the aircraft and was wondering if it
would be ok to eliminate the landing gear.  (The grass at the field I
would fly it at is most certainly too long for the Elfi's gear.)  That
would certainly eliminate the problem you mentioned about the nose
wheel but would probably exacerbate the problem you described about
the wing dowel.  What do you think?

No problem.

Yup, would make it a bit lighter too and more aerodynamic for slightly better
performance and longer flights.

Tough call. If you are going to land in grass that helps already, tad softer.
I would perhaps see one could slightly modify the Elfi and use ***bands to
hold the wing on. That would solve the 'pin' problem for sure.
