Clayton-
Not quite sure what sort of advice you are looking for, so I'm
guessing here:
a)  Yes you can do it
b)  The bearings are press fit.  To remove, heat the crankcase to
about 350F and rap it against a wooden block to dislodge the bearing
by its own inertia.  Usually they will drop right out, but you may
have to repeat several times for stubborn cases.
c)  A local bearing shop, Boca, or OS can provide replacements.  I
like to use a shielded bearing in front, to minimize fuel leakage and
resulting mess.
d)  If the new bearings don't press in easily, heat the case again and
they should seat right in with moderate pressure.  You can use the
crankshaft and a spacer (stack of washers) as a bearing press.  Press
is the keyword - never use a hammer, as you risk damaging the bearing
races.
