What The Hell Is Going On?

I've only been reading this NG for about a year since I only got back
into this hobby last Dec after a 23 year absence. Thank God we didn't
have computers back in those days or half of us in the hobby would have
been dead (we all had guns and it was PC then) if the kind of Cat
Fighting took place then as is now going on in this news group.
Of course I don't know all the history behind some of the grug matches
but maybe it is because of the weather in most of the country has ended
the flying season and everyone is going through withdwawal pains.  On
the other hand you would think most would be heavily involved in
building for the upcoming flying season and this would fill this NG with
worth while Q&A's and less B.S.
I'm sure that the 6 or so people who are coming ascoss as assh---s are
fairly decent people.  I'm just glad they don't live in the same local
because the cost of life insurance would rise dramatically as a results
of the drastically increased *** rate or the cost of moving would
become prohibitive since some of the alligator mouths would over load
the jaybird asses resulting in rapid departures when there was a real
threat of face to face confrontations.
Anyway, it is interesting, although non constructive, reading on a
cold winter night in the Land of Zion. :-)  Paul

It's just more fall out from the 911 mess. Everone has been nice to each
other for long enough. Now it is time to take the gloves off and get at it.
It's all very healthy. Besides a lot of people (including me) are real sick
of all the PC (politically correct) ***that has seemed to engulf our proud
country for too many years.  I say. Let'er rip.

They need to start a new newsgroup  "rec.I'll.get.even" or "rec.model.rc.bs"
or "rec.let.me.blast.you" or rec.dont.buy.from.them".
We dont need it in this newsgroup!

Anyone with outlook express can go to 'messages' in the toolbar at the top
of the screen and exclude any message topic or poster id they wish......

I'm going to create a rule to exclude messages with the word 'hell' in the
subject line.

Paul, whenever you see one of these rants, block the sender with your news
reader and the entire tone of the ng will change immediately.  No matter
what the activity, there is always the three percent who will work to
disrupt it.  Maybe they thrive on it.  Fortunately, we can easily block
their  disruptive influence on this ng.
Cheers,
Mike

Anyone with outlook express should get another newsreader :)

Seriuosly, you are leaving yourself open to a lot of vile creatures
that can post some rather vile code that OE will merrily execute
automatically.

Try gravity or freeagent to read your mail. Lots more features than OE

The more interesting question (for me anyway), is why the rest of us
are reading it.  If we're not reading it, then no need to complain.
If we *are* reading it, as entertainment I suppose, then who are we to
criticize the folks that entertain us?  But it's sort of like a train
wreck.  It's awful, but who can turn away?

How about Outlook instead of Outlook Express?
Outlook has a lot of features.
What features do other news readers have that isn't on Outlook?

Outlook doesn't have a newsreader, to my knowledge.  --Mike

Outlook uses Outlook Express as it's default Newsreader

I use both Free Agent and OE and OE is no less secure than other
newsreaders.  If you launch a binary attachment in Free Agent it does the
same thing as it would in OE.  You can set-up security in OE under Tools,
Options, Security.

There are the following Virus options in OE 6:

Select Internet Explorer Zone to use.
Internet Zone (Less secure, but more functional)
    Restricted Sites Zone (More secure)

Warn when other applications try to send mail as me.
Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially
contain a virus.
