Can JR and Futaba buddy-box???

Post by G. Tsan » Thu, 24 Jul 1997 04:00:00

Just want to know if a Futaba transmitter can be connected to a JR 642
system as buddy-box/trainer system.  If it is possible but require
custom made cables/connectors please advise the details needed to make
such a cable.

Any limitations that I should be aware of??

Thanks for any comment.

I already posted an answer, but I guess you want it now. ;-)
Sorry, but NO they are not compatable, no matter what wiring you try.

Carl, in Fremont, CA. Corsairs are more fun, Shuttles and X-cells too.

Can JR and Futaba buddy-box???

Unfortunately the answer is no. JR and Futaba use different patterns when
decoding and encoding their signals. Actually no is a harsh answer. If you
wanted to make an inverting amp, and rewire one of the radios-you might be
able to get it to work. Also, this could let the smoke out of both of your
radios.  Buddy boxes are cheap for JR-see what your dealer has to offer
for one of these. They wont operate as a transmitter alone, but will work
as the buddy box. Thats an easy alternative.
