Delta DL40 lathe

Does anyone out there know anything about a Delta DL40 lathe.  Just doing a little
research and ran across an ad in the local buy and sell. It says it has a 16" swing.
It is also pretty pricey.  Is it an older heavy duty lathe?

I have a friend that has a DL40 and have used it quite a bit. I found it to
be a little under powered and I don't think the spindle is large enough (1")
for a 24" swing.

However, the electronic controls and the long bed length are a great asset.I
turned 12 8x8x48" redwood newels on it and they came off very nice.I had a
little vibration problem but we fixed it with some sandbags.

All in all it is an very nice lathe for all but the largest work.I don't
know what you mean by pricey but if you can get it for less than $1800 it
would be a good lathe to have
