Pears Choped or Juice

My recipe calls for 4 lb.. of chopped pears and enough water to
make a gal. plus all the other stuff.

Will straight pear juice make better wine?

This has been a on going question  in this group for a bit, 100% juice or
exact amounts. I probably will not be the only one with a reply or thought
so it will really boil down to preference.

While I DO agree that some items close to 100% is good, I feel not all
apply. In this case I can tell you I have made 100% - 50% - by recipe and a
bit more. The answer really depends on the fruit, according to the Brix
Fruit Chart I have Pears are at there peak above 16 Brix, Is yours there? If
yes then you may stick close to the recipe, if not then you will have to add
additional pears. The key here is to remember a recipe is a map, it will get
you there only...... For my purpose and the Pear wine I have made that I
liked I used 7lbs. of Red Pear / Moonglow equal mix per gallon... The more
fruit, the stronger the fruit taste or nose feel but you CAN overpower it..
