Wine Note of Week 6/10

Post by trend » Mon, 10 Jun 1996 04:00:00

This Week's Wine Note carries a notice  of a dramatic price reduction for
The Review and broader availability to consumers -- no longer is it
mandatory to fill out a trade (business) qualification form to
subscribe.
        Here's this week's  non-advertising unpaid wine note from a
recent
     issue of  "The P u r s g l o v e Wine & Spirits Review for the
Trade:
"91 Pts., 3 Stars, Silver Med., Rosette --  Oasis Vineyard
***ia
Cabernet Sauvignon 1993 -- A  really big wine and unusual for Oasis
whose cabernets are usually ringers for bordeaux reds. This
replicates a
Californian from  Napa or Alexander Valley:  Big, rich and full of
flavor,
but well structured and not flabby. Lots of berries flavor balanced
with
nice wood. Tannin and good acid for enjoyment with food. 7/7 on the
pleasure scale. Rosette awarded for lifetime winery achievement:
Always
fine cabernet. Retail panelists remarked that is is one of America's
finer
cabernets, in the Bordeaux manner, but they connot sell it because
it's not
from California, and the label is too classically non-snazzy in a
time when
consumers buy and drink labels. It won't talk itself off the shelf.
Could
sell without customer complain thru '98".
