Freezing pears and apples

I have a couple of bushels of pears, and would like to
know if there is a preferred way to freeze them.
Or...is it a good idea to freeze them at all?  Has
anyone tried it before?

Freeze them sliced, they are a devil to chop up if frozen whole.
However, what do you want to  make with them? If wine, You may wish to
crush them up first ( a couple of good smashes with a mallet would do
the trick).  If you know someone who has a press get the juice and make
apple cider and perry blending to taste after fermentation is over.
