Nexus Rotor head problems?

Nexus Rotor head problems?

Post by Rob Dewhir » Tue, 04 Feb 1997 04:00:00

I bought a Nexus the first month they came out.  I seem to recall someone
claiming Kyosho found a problem with the rotor head and was offering a
replacement.

What's the exact story with this?  I want to call the heli line at Tower,
but I want to get my facts straight first.

Nexus Rotor head problems?

Rob:

I think the Nexus had a recall on all models for the head. Funny thing
though, one of our members had a very minor crash with his NEXUS
Saturday, and the head blew off! The blades were dinged, but did not
break. This was with the "new" head. So, that would have me nervous.

Nexus Rotor head problems?

Wayne,

I have had a quite serious crash with my Nexus and destroyed the set of
Fiberglass blades and the head block had no damage.  The spindle was bent
significantly and the main shaft was bent on about a 45.  The new heads
that are being sent to replace the original are virtually identical except
there is more meat for additional support at the main shaft.  The chance
of ever breaking a head in flight is virtually non-existent with the newer
design.  Also,  the DX does not use the same head as the S version.

Rob,

All you need to do is get in touch with Great Planes and they will send
you a replacement for the old head.  You do not need to have any specific
facts.  They will send a new head block to anyone with the original Nexus
"S".
