Futaba's PA-1 Pilot Assist Link

Does Futaba's PA-1 Pilot Assist Link works on Helicopters? If it does work,
do I need to remove my gyro or can I install both of them? I'm a newbie to
R/C heli and I find it difficult to control my heli, I wonder if this will
help me stabilize my flight if I loose control?

  Allan,
They will work if properly setup but you'll still need the gyro
as the pilot assist will only help out with the cyclics.
Since you have to learn to hover from the ground up i would not
advise you to buy one to "just" help to learn to hover, they don't work
too well when the heli's low to the ground anyway. It also fights against
your own cyclic control inputs and will give you a false impression of
the "true" control inputs required for a steady hover or smooth forward
flight/circuit flying.
For learning forward flight it may prove useful merely as a backup
device,in case you get completely disorientated,but again i wouldn't
advise you use one enabled all the time.

FWIW I know 2 or 3 flyers who were capable of only being able to hover
(just) ,who bought these devices and their abilities did not noticibly
improve one bit.If said flyers had suddenly shot off into sustained
forward flight circuit flying i might have thought they could be useful
to speed up the learning curve, but it didn't happen. If you are
struggling it will not provide a miracle cure but only compound the
problem IMO.

If you are going it alone i would advise you get your heli checked out
by a competent flyer,in case it isn't setup very well, other than this
you just need to burn more fuel .
