Hi Simon,

I bought an Eco 8 as my first Heli and I'm very satisfied with it.  Spares
available from J. Perkins (see MHW for the address) - generally pretty quick
in my experience.   Motor I use is Ikarus X250-H,  I've got an Ikarus V90
speed controller, but I would recommend you look at the soon-to-be-available
Schultze Future 45He speed controller which will have a governor function
and I bet will run much cooler than the V90.

With the X250-H / V90 I get 8 minutes from a 10 cell Sanyo 2400 pack (takes
35 minutes to charge using a Hitec 335 charger).   I am using a Hula-Hoop
training gear I saw on www.flyheli.de this weighs 430 grammes (on top of a
1600 gramme heli !) so I reckon I'll see much longer flight times when I
escape from the training gear.

As an aside,  I am using Hitec HS81 servos all round (.11s transit time for
60 degrees).  These need the frames to be widened by about 1/2 a millimiter,
but the seem to work well,  I also considered the HS85s but they are heavier
and more expensive (though I think they'll just fit the standard frame
size).

You had better resign yourself to buying the autorotation main gear at the
same time as you buy the Heli, you can't do without it.

Good luck, and if there's anything I can do to help you know where to ask
;-)

Eco 8, Eco 16 or Concept EP??? (UK)

PErformance wise, the EP Concept isnt bad, but nowhere near compareable to the
ECOs!  Go with the larger ECO 16 if you can spend the extra money, as the
larger versions flies even better and is even more stable in the wind.  But if
not, the ECO 8 is great.  Good luck,

Jason
