Futaba 9z L/R Trim works in wrong direction

Post by CGrayR » Tue, 29 May 2001 09:39:43

Hello,
Strange thing with my Futaba 9z.

My Left/Right Cyclic "Aileron" trim works opposite of the stick movement.

Left aileron stick moves swashplate left (left side down)
Left Aileron trim moves swashplate right (left side up)

I have the heli trimmed for hover, just have to remember that aileron trim is
backwards.
It did make for some headscratching for the first attempts at hover t***.
During setup, I checked the movement of all flight controls and engine to
ensure correct movement with the sticks.  I didn't use the trims until the
initial flight t***.

Elevator, throttle, rudder trims work in the same direction as the stick
movement.

I then purposely reversed the aileron servo on the 9z screen, and the
swashplate movement did
reverse, but the aileron trim is still backwards of the stick movement.

I've been thru the manual to see if there was a setting I was not aware of ,
but nothing changes this.
Perhaps I am missing something?

Chuck

Are you looking at the Heli from the Tail to the Nose??
If you are, right stick should raise the left side of the swash plate and
lower the right.. If you are looking at the nose to the tail, you are not
correct.. If this is your first setup, you fly the heli looking down the
tail to the nose. (fly the nose still) Right is right, left is left. It is
backwards when nosed in.

I think there is a screen for setting up your trims and sliders and what
they control....you can change the effect that any trim or slider movement
makes in that screen.

Futaba 9z L/R Trim works in wrong direction

Post by CGrayR » Tue, 29 May 2001 12:38:54

Hello,
Thanks for the double check on my orientation.

Yes, I am looking at the heli from behind,
right cyclic stick movement raises the left side and lowers the right side of
the swashplate.
Right stick banks the swashplate right (right side down), then banks the rotor
disc  (right side down), then banks the heli (right side down)

Still can't figure why the trim moves the swashplate in the opposite direction
of a stick movement.

Hello,
Thanks, I think that did it.
In the MDL "Model Menu", then
The FNC "Function Contol" screen,
I can select any trim or control, and change the
direction of any of them using the =/- button on this screen.
I have the Aileron trim moving in the proper direction now.

Thanks again,
Chuck
