Looking for suggestions for new purchases

Post by Ken » Sun, 02 Jul 2000 04:00:00

Greetings,

I'm a previous Rotor head. I owned a Concept 30se 10 years ago. Sold
it, for personal reasons and am now wishing I still had it.

I'm seriously looking at buying all the goodies again. I just am out
of touch with what is on the market. So I need recommendations.

Here is my situation, I am in the military stationed overseas, I order
EVERYTHING through the net. I'm looking for the following:

Store:

Heli:

Radio:

Gyro:

Engine:

My experience level was novice when I left the hobby. I am a
recreational flyer. I want to spend the money once. I also want a heli
that I can get parts for easily.

TIA!

Store: Depends where you are stationed

Heli: 30 size - Raptor or if you really want the best wait a couple of
months for the Quick Kudos
        40/50 size Ergo 46/F1 -46
60 size many to choose from, but as you're just starting out a 50
size will get you much longer flight times

Radio: JR 8103/3810 or Futaba 8U. My preference is for the PCM version

Gyro: Futaba GY-501 or CSM 540

Engine: OS 32/ OS 46 or if you can wait OS 50

As you are going to be buying tax free then you can afford to get the best!

Tim.

Your on the right track...
Radio:  Futaba 8u w/5-9202 servos..PCM  -this is the best bang for the
buck right now and don't setting for lower quality servos.
You can really tell the difference between the servos in flight.

Gyro:   I am very partial to the Futaba GY-501.  Very easy to set up and
works great.  The CSM requires you to buy additional software
you have to use you computerto make adjustments on it.

Good Luck

i use a csm 540, no need for the computer interface, runs great out of the
box with a proper, high speed servo.

agree, best 30 for bucks, Raptor, get the kit with an os32

radio either 8103 or 8uh(p or f depending on receiver preference)
