jittery servo ?

jittery servo ?

Post by Ashley Camero » Sun, 12 Nov 2000 04:00:00

After weeks of problems trying to work out why my helicopter keeps
jumping up and down like a grass hopper, I've tried all your advice -
thanks - My engine is running smoother and my knowledge has increased
enormously. However after some careful looking I've discovered the real
problem.

When my engine is running and the collective is 1/4 or so up, the pitch
servo starts twitching like it was connected to the gyro and it was in a
storm. I've found that if I put some weight on the servo arm then again
it starts fighting with me, jumping all over the place. I definitely
have the servo's connected correctly and the gyro etc.

Is my servo just knackered ?

Thanks again for all your help

Ashley

I  had the same problem with a servo hooked to the throttle of a gasser.  It
would appear to work fine until you applied a bit of resistance at the middle
portion of its travel, then it would twitch.  I replaced it and all was well.
If you want you could try sending it back to the company.  Mine was brand new
and futaba replaced it.

Sounds like to pot has gone in the centre position, this usually happens to
the tail rotor servo.

Retire the servo, its worth less than a Copter.
