Concept SR-X Tail Rotor Grip Bearings

Concept SR-X Tail Rotor Grip Bearings

I just discovered that two of the t/r grip bearings on my C30 are a bit
knackered and need some knowledgeable input before replacing them.  Here's
the scoop:

Several years ago I threw an entire t/r grip assembly, complete with
bearings and blade, which I was unable to find after a marginally succesful
auto.  I replaced the two missing bearings with a pair I had from an old
Shuttle and rather than putting both of them together in the new grip, I
mixed them so that each blade had one of each - an original Kyosho bearing
and one of the Shuttle bearings.

As far as I could tell the bearings were identical in form, fit, and
function; but interestingly it is the two bearings from the Shuttle that
have failed.  Is this just a coincidence, or is there something special
about the Kysoho bearings spec'd out for the t/r grips on the SR-X?

Greg, I don't think there's anything significantly better about the original
SX bearings over the Shuttle's but as I see it, you're still using the
original STLYE of tail blade holders on your SX. I'd suggest you ditch the
holders and wring out the wallet for a tail hub, blade holders and bearings
for the Concept VR. (32 or 46, they're both the same) The VR is also what
was originally fitted tothe Concept 60, so it's plenty man enough for the
job.

For your money you get twin bearing supported holders that really ARE "fit
and forget" and they don't get that typical Concept "floppy holder" problem.
You get a SLIGHT increase in blade diameter too, which is always helpful and
the holders don't snap the bolt at the hub.

I can't remember for sure, but you MAY need the VR pitch plate too, but
that's a far better item than the SX too.

Well worth the cost IMO.

Actually, I do have the SR-X tail hub, pitch slider, bearings, and grips -
the same as on the C60 according to the Kyosho parts lists.  I upgraded when
I stretched the tail boom to the SR version so I could use longer main
blades.  I just found it odd that the non-Kyosho bearings of each pair were
the only two of the four that failed.  So it is your experience that it was
probably just a coincidence?  They aren't some special kind of sealed thrust
bearing?

They're just bearing Greg, nowt special in either heli. I'd probably go for
the Concept bearing myself, but only if I couldn't get any from Wyco or
Boca.

I'm ordering a set of four 10x5x4's from BOCA, then.  Big difference in
price: $22.95 USD from Tower vs. $6.95 from BOCA...

Thanks,

And probably better bearing from BOCA too.
