CSM 540 and Jr 8103 radio setup..need assistance

Hello,
I have a Bergin  60 Gasser, JR digital servos, 540 gyro and 8103 radio.
My problem is that the documented setup process does not produce the
desired result wrt the gyro.

I set the maximum servo travel to 90%.  The documentation says to set
the gryo gain chanel to 60%...the only place I can see to set that is on
the gryo dual rate sub menu on the 8103.   There is an aux 2 travel
settings, but those seem to apply only to the throttle hold switch.

If I set the rudder d/r to 60% on both the 0 and 1 setting, then the
gryo does not seem to respond at all...it stays in mode zero and will
not do the left/right center manuver that signifies successful auto
calibration.

If I set the d/r to 80%, 20% like for the older CSM gyro, I can get the
left, right, center response...but it happens every time I move the d/r
switch.

I am at a loss...the directions are not specific enough to the menu
options on my radio and the responses I get are not consistent with the
instructions.

Can any one help?

tks,
ric lewallen

RE-READ the directions, If memory serves me correctly the directions say to

adjustments to the gain(gear on mine) Rudder channel atv sets the piro. rate.
Is there anyone who can give you a hand at this? The first time is a bit
confusing.

I am using a CSM 540/8103 setup in my Futura SE.  Setup and adjustment is
unbelievably simple.

I am going to assume you read the instructions on how CSM wants you to setup
the mechanical linkage on the heli, and have gone through the gyro auto setup
mode correctly.

Plug your gyro gain lead into the gear channel on the RX.  Go to the ATV page,
and then press the select button.  This will take you to the next page.  Set
ATV on the gear to 60% in both directions.  Hit select again and this will take
you back to the first page.  Set your rudder ATV to 60% in both directions to
start.  Toggling your gear switch will switch between HH and normal.
Test fly and adjust to your liking.  The rudder ATV will adjust the pirouette
rate, and the gear ATV will adjust the gyro gain.  Toggling the gear switch up
or down will allow gain adjustment in that mode.  My initial settings are
(gear) 62% gain in both modes with rudder ATV's set at 72%.
