Yes, it will make it a lot more stable.  But it will still be capable
of moving VERY fast if you get behind it.  Indoors they are
approximately the same, but the CP version feels more solid since the
head speed is a lot faster.  Outdoors is another matter.  The CP
Piccolo will fly well in winds that would ground a FP Piccolo.  I have
flown mine in winds that measured 5-6 MPH with 15 MPH gusts and it was
controllable with a it of effort.  There is more translational lift
effect that there is cyclic.  In other words, wind causes it to go up
and down much more than side to side.

Note that mine is brushless so it is a little heavier than stock,
which also helps.

I don't recommend flying the CP version indoors until spare parts are
available.  The blades are thin and wood and will break, and so far
spares are not readily available.  But outdoors it is terrific.

I think with the collective pitch version I'll definately be getting one of
these.  Does anyone know if there's a CP kit for the MS Hornet?

I heard that the CP kit for the Hornet will be available sometime late
January or early February.  There is a lot of info out there already to
convert the Hornet to collective by using some tail parts from a shuttle.
Not sure how well it works but I'll wait for the real collective kit from
MS.

I made my own flybarless collective pitch modification for the
Piccolo, similar to the Hornet version.  It involves home made blades
and some misc. parts from a 30 size heli.  See:

http://www.eaglequest.com/~pgoelz/piccolo_collective01.html

It flies fine, but the Ikarus CP version flies better.  If you are
into radical aerobatics, the flybarless seems to have more control
authority.  If you are into more tame flying, the Ikarus flybar
version is a lot more stable in wind.

I assume the factory Hornet CP version will be similar in comparison
to the Ikarus flybar CP vs. homemade flybarless.
