X-cell 60 ST - - Beginner

Post by wisepa.. » Sat, 01 Jul 2000 04:00:00

I have never flown a RC helicopter before nor built one. I have heard
the X-cell 60 ST is a good start if I had wanted to built a scale .60
helicopter. Has anyone out there built a X-cell 60 ST? These are they
parts I will be ordering with it. Am I missing anything else that can
make it fly besides tools, fuels, and starters?

    - X-cell 60 ST kit
    - OS .61SXH-WC engine
    - (NEED SUGGESTION ON QUIET MUFFLER)
    - (NEED SUGGESTION ON SERVOS)
    - Telebee HH Gyro
    - 8UHPS Futaba PCM radio
    - (NEED SUGGESTION ON GLOW PLUGS)

All the help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kev

P.S. If you have built a X-cell 60, do you mind listing what parts you
used?

Hitori
9203 on tail rotor;  9204 on collective;  9202 on all others
CSM 360/540 or Futaba G501 gyro
Great radio (I have one)
OS A8 plug

I fly almost the same setup except my kit was not the ST.

X-cell 60 ST - - Beginner

Kev,

I just finished an XCell CT ... it's a VERY nice heli and has several
upgrades from the ST.  Add up the $ to get from the ST to the CT later ...
maybe worth a thought.

My CT was my second helicopter, the Raptor being my first.  All I can say is
that I am really glad that I built a Raptor first, the CT would have been a
bit much for my first bird.  If you have some experienced help in your area,
go for the XCell!  Otherwise you may want to start with something simpler
(and cheaper).

You can see some photos of my CT under construction in the photo gallery at:

PS.  Make sure you get a fuel filter with a large filter surface area,
cheaper filters can really cause some interesting problems.

Kevin,
I have a ST. I'm selling a upgraded SE to buy 2 more. Great heli for the
money!!
Email me if you would like specifics on radio, engine, exhaust, plugs, servos and
gyros. I've been flying helis since 1989.
I'd be happy to help.
Take care,
RoyR.

Kev,

I used JR 8101 servos everywhere except the tail, where I used the Futaba
9205 that came with my GY501 gyro.
