HELP!! Stromberg-Carlson question....

Post by TomTMP » Thu, 24 Aug 2000 04:00:00

Hello everyone !!

I have a 1946 "Geogian" style Radio/Phono console model # 1135.  The chassis
has been restored with new caps and filters.   The tuning eye and most of the
tubes have been replaced. The tuning eye (6U5) only works real good on today's
FM band, but not on the AM broadcast band.  This is unusual!!  It's usually the
other way around.  The resistors in the tuning eye curcuitry are good.  My
question is: Does anyone know what I should look for OR whatcan be done to
correct this problem ?????

The Chassis has Broadcast, SW, old FM, today's FM bands.  Obviously, the old FM
has long been obsolete!!

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks!!!!!

-Tom

HAVE YOU CAREFULLY CHECKED THE AVC RECTIFIER AND THE ASSOCIATED
RESISTORS AND CAPACITORS.  ANY RESISTOR CHANGES WILL EFFECT THE WAY THE
AVC OPERATES WHICH IN TURN EFFECTS THE EYE TUBE.  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A
SCHEMATIC, I WOULD RECOMMEND ONE  I ASSUME YOU ARE USING AN ADEQUATE
OUTSIDE ANTENNA.SO AS TO ALLOW THE BEST POSSIBLE SIGNAL TO REACH THE
SET.

disregard caps, visual problem
