GC makes a product called DE-OX-ID. Is it the same as Caig's DeoxIT D5? The
description of DE-OX-ID is:

GC Chemicals DE-OX-ID Contact Cleaner
Solventless, Light Oil Based Contact Treatment Compond With Active
Ingredients To Counteract Oxidation. Lowers Contact Resistance, Inhibits
Arching, Lubricates And Protects Against Corrosion.
4oz Aerosol

Thanks, Don <donwiss at panix.com>.

I got some when I couldn't find any Deoxit.  It works OK, but IMHO it's not
quite as good as the real stuff.

Anybody else remember when it was called Cramolin Red?

Brad:

I first met Cramolin Red in the early 1960s.  It was the product
recommended by Electronics Associates Inc. for cleaning the resolvers
in our EAI 231R analog computer.

Anyone remember EAI and the 231R analog computer?

Best Regards,

Ed

Oh, yes. Still have a bottle of it. Caig used to sell a little red/blue kit for
hi-fi systems.

Cramolin has been around for decades. Any patents have long since expired. The
GC might very well be identical.

Red was the cleaner. Blue the preservative.

In fact, Caig is selling Cramolin again. Aerosol.
