ATTENTION ALL GOGGLE USERS - $5 will fix your USENET problems for a long time

Stop complaining, use your favourite newsreader, spend FIVE BUCKS and get
more newsgroup reading and posting that you'll need in an eon.  Now this is
gonna sound like a commercial, and it is.  With all the major internet
suppliers abandoning Usenet, it's time to have a good solid pipe to it, at a
reasonable and logical fee.

I have been using http://www.usenet-news.net for over a year now (no, I HAVE
NO AFFILIATION WITH THEM) during which time they have given me superb
service and great pricing, but the important thing is that:

YOUR BLOCK OF DOWNLOADS NEVER EXPIRES.  You can use it up, certainly, but
for five dollars, you get 10 gig, which is a ONE HECK OF A LOT of text
posting and reading.  Of course, you will also now have solid access to the
binaries with *excellent retention*.  They even give you and extra 10% free
to account for the headers.

You no longer need to feel frozen out of Usenet because of excessive,
repeating MONTHLY fees.  Usenet-News has NO monthly fees.  Buy your block
and use it at your leisure.  Yes, that is the difference: just use the block
you bought, and it expires, no warning, it just doesn't give you the feed.
So then you just put "some more nickels in the box" and away you go again.

Here's their pricing:

      Lifetime Block download accounts
      Block size
     Cost/block
(Payable in USD, EUR or GBP)
      2 GB  $ 2.00 1.00 USD/GB
      5 GB $ 3.00  0.60 USD/GB
      10 GB $ 5.00  0.50 USD/GB
      20 GB $ 10.00 8.00  0.40 USD/GB -New lower price!
      30 GB $ 13.50 10.00 0.33 USD/GB -New lower price!
      50 GB $ 20.00 15.00  0.30 USD/GB -New lower price!
      100 GB $ 32.00 24.00  0.24 USD/GB -New lower price!
      200 GB $ 62.00 46.00  0.23 USD/GB -New lower price!
      300 GB $ 90.00 66.00  0.22 USD/GB -New lower price!

Why not just use albasani.net or one of the other free usenet servers?
I've been for a little while now and have zero complaints. I'm not sure
what paying money would buy me that I'm not getting for free.

I beg your pardon, but as a customer, you DO have an affiliation with
them. You PAY them.

I've never tried, I don't "get" binaries, obsolete way of getting files
around IMHO, but whatever floats your boat.

If the binaries are obsolete, then isn't this group obsolete, too?

NEWSFLASH - Starting in February 2009 the Government has mandated that
all of Usenet be converted to digital format.

Some would say so, but it's still an excellent medium for text
communication, and with it you can point to binary files stored anywhere.

so, given that I (and most other users of their free server) can't post
through teranews, I'm trying motzarella.org - free, so far it seems to
work - I don't need binaries for any purpose I can see, so this meets my
needs.  And I can read through teranews, just not post..

$5 here, $5 there, it all adds up. People *** up a storm when the
price of a tank of gas goes up by $5.

To me? No.

Do I have a problem with others using it? No, but I do encourage people
to consider alternatives.
