Anyone have a 20/120?

Post by Brenda Dye » Tue, 19 Feb 2013 22:09:27

I have what appears to be a dead one, or close to it. I get almost no
deflection on my I-177, and if I swap it with an elderly 99, I get much more
(and cleaner) audio, and the 99 isn't even designed as a power (sic)
amplifier.

Let me know what you have, if any, and the cost thereof.

TIA

Is it a tube you need?

I may have a NOS if you can clarify for me.

Brenda is looking for the UX120 tube, designed by RCA as a high power
replacement for the UX199. That info will help those who may not know
what 20/120 means (took me a few reads to figure it out) which is
Radiola 20 series with UX120 tubes...

Say BD, do you know this person? Hear him every day around this time
working low power digital modes (on 20m tonight).

Unfortunately, I have yet to make an actual contact of any kind within
Korea. In fact, the only contact I've made since I moved here was back in
2002, to a JA on 40m.

There is a 70cm repeater that's supposed to cover this area from Seoul (I'm
80 Km south of Seoul), but even with a high gain Comet stick I have yet to
even copy it. In fact, I can't even copy it or hit it from Yongsan Garrison
(which is IN Seoul!).

HF is almost a total loss, the qrm is over S-9 most of the time, as the
electric grid is *** due in part to the widespread (almost universal) use
of fluorescent lighting. This is likely why he uses digital modes. Of
course, Gwangju is much too far away for ground wave and far too close for
skywave (~300 Km).
