Why is power of my cheap Nicad trickle charger not linear ?

I have a cheap Nikko trickle charger is marked with output of

I am hoping to be able to charge a 6v 1000mah Nicad Receiver pack for
my 1/10 Nitro overnight (12hrs) for convenience, rather than having to
charge it up the day before and keep an eye on it. I have measured the
charge current on the flat pack and it is approx 150mah. But as this
is charge rate well over C/10 (approx C/6.6) I wonder how long it is
safe to leave the pack on charge ?

I can't use the charger which came with my Futaba 3VC, as it is rated
at 4.8v, and if I plug the 6v pack in the LED only glows very dimly -
I'm guessing this would charge ridiculously slowly, but would this be
better, and will it fully charge the pack ?

Thanks for any suggestions/thoughts on whether this will be OK.

James.
