I'm not sure if you are interested in Nitro or Electric power, but HPI
makes an electric Rally car, suitable for on and off road use. Traxxas
offers great beginners kits, as well. Check out www.towerhobbies.com to
get a more specific idea of what you would like. Hope this helps.

The best R/C Car for a beginner, and it needs to go both on and off
road? Yeah, you could get the HPI RS4 Rally, it has full bearings and
HPI is a great company (back, vermin, back!) in my opinion. Tower
Hobbies is good, but they actually reccomend the Kyosho MP-5 to a
beginner! (or imply it with the phrase "all out nitro action," or
something like that. Itshould be "Always going back to the hobby store
to get something else that's not included in the kit!"). Some dedicated
Offroad Trucks can simply have their suspention lowered, a set of
on-road "Street Hawgs" slapped on. and your gone! Check out the
Associated RC10T3 (it's 2wd; much easier for a beginner yet harder to
squeeze out all fun potention when compared to 4wds) and the HPI Rs4 MT
(I don't what the hell this thing wants to be, but it looks cool! This
one can't really be raced though. If you want the option to race with
your first vehicle, go with the T3). Good Luck.

hi,

first you should decide on gas or electric

then you should find out how much you can spend on the whole equipment -
you need much more then the car (transmitter, receiver, servos, speed
control, batteries, charger, ....)

and would you like to have fun with your freinds or are you serious about
competition?

for a newbie to rc (and interested in electric cars) I'd recommend Tamiya -
they got very clear instructions and spares are quite easy to get...
.. and they got a lot of different cars!

have fun,

paul

Try the Traxxas Nitro Sport. The son and I are having a blast with
ours
