why 4 zip tie on engine head?

I've seen several people use 4 zip tie, tie a knot on 4 corners of engine
head heat sink. what's that for?

That's a new one on me. Maybe to support the body? Probably not, but I don't
think plastic zip ties would have any type of cooling effect.

in case they flip with the body off, the zip ties scrape the ground, not the
top of the head.

I saw this at a race this weekend, the head was still all scratched and banged
up even with the zip ties in place. Didn't seem to help.

I never subscribed to this zip-tied head theory as I mostly run on-road TC's
( and an NMT of course), but nitro buggies usually have their head exposed
outside the body and are left unprotected in the event of a flip/rollover.
Now obviously zip-ties aren't going to really reduce scratching the head up
on any type of HARD surface (ie:asphalt) BUT on a dirt track they seem to do
the trick. Interestingly enough Mugen makes little head protector (dots)
which are pressed into the 4 holes that the head screws use. They come in
about 5 diff flavors and probably are more useful as eye candy than for any
real practical use. Just my opinion.
