First off I would like to say that I wish all RC cars suppliers were as good
at customer relation as GREAT PLANES is.
AnnMarie is the customer relations manager and she is the best I have seen
in the industry in my nearly 30 years of RC car ownership.
But now to the MT and it's transmission problems.
I have destroyed 3 of the plastic counter gears(part # DTXC7200) so far.
This is not due to any abuse, just running the truck as it was meant to be
run. (WFO)
Great Planes sent me a free replacement counter gear and Diff gear when I
first contacted them about this. I purchased another gear at my local hobby
shop.
So I contacted GP again and now they are sending me a complete new
transmission for FREE. I suggested to them that I should return my original
Trans to their tech department so they could see if they could figure out
why it is destroying the gears.
So far that's a free Diff and a free gear and now a free complete ***. I
wish other companies were so responsive.
I wish they would make all the Trans gears out of steel or at least offer
steel gear sets as an option. . The Spur gear is steel as is the top gear.
The counter gear and Diif are the only ones made from plastic.
Part of the problem is the engine. The Torque .16 has a lot of power. This
engine is the strongest engine for under $175.00 in this size range I have
ever owned.
Trying to pull the most excellent monster Truck tires that the MT is
equipped with puts a big strain on these gears.
If they can't find a solution I will simply install a Stealth *** from an
RC10GT. It WILL take the power!!
I'll post any more info about a solution when I find one. In the meantime I
am running the engine in my RC10GT and love it.
Curt!!
