stock motor and mod motor current consumption?

Post by Kelvin Leu » Fri, 28 May 1999 04:00:00

I would like to know the average current consumption of a stock motor (say
27T) and a typical modified motor (say 14T). I want to know the current so
that I can calculate the run time with differen battery capacity. Thanks.

Well, it's about the same, since people set their cars up to run for 4
minutes usually.

The current drain is directly proportional to the load you put on the
motor, so this kind of comparison is difficult to do.  You can make a 14
turn motor draw more current than a 27 turn motor, and vice versa if you
are so inclined.

Run time is normally adjusted by changing the gear ratio -- speed is
adjusted by changing the motor.
